A Social Media Strategy Example for a Luxury Wedding Planner

In fact, I encourage it, which is why I’m sharing a real-life social media strategy example from a real client: a luxury wedding planner in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Charleston.
The Background
Nouvelle Weddings is a luxury wedding planning firm. When the owner, Briana, first reached out to me, she absolutely hated Instagram and dreaded even opening the app. She hardly posted, and most of their followers were fellow industry pros. While connecting with industry peers through social media is great, other vendors are not her target audience. She needed to connect with luxury clients who wanted to hand off the mental load of planning to her experienced team.
Through a quick audit, I learned that most of the followers who weren’t industry peers were actually bots.. So her follower count looked great, but her inquiries were basically nonexistent. In fact, she had only ever booked two weddings from Instagram since she started—in 2012. 😳
When I asked Briana what the hardest thing about social media was, she answered,
“The hardest part of social media was figuring out what to post. That task made the whole idea of social media stressful and overwhelming, so I practiced a lot of avoidance. At that point in time, we had only ever booked 2 weddings from IG ever, and we were rarely getting inquiries from there.... Most of our followers were wedding vendors, and we were not getting any inquiries from couples through social media.”
